The locale of the Universal all star pkotop'ay "The Self-Made Wife" shifts troin a lowly shack in the oil fields of Texas to a mansion in New York. It is the story of a ptor couple who slaved and struggled to savte a few dollars with which to buy oil stock. One day an oil gusher made them immensely rich. They moved to New York, purchased a fashionable home, and began a new mode of living, To her the life in the city was artificial. She came to believe thac there could be no happiness in the city, uespite the luxury of her new surroundings, but eventually learned that friendships can be just as true and happiness just as complete in a city of millions as in a community where everybody calls everybody else by his first name.
