piwroa HALL SOCIETY. me annual general meeting of Hie N’v.atea Hall Society was held on Weunesday afternoon, Mr D. J. O’Carroli presiding over a small attendance. The balance .sheet showed an income lor the year of £2B 6j tid, being members’ subscriptions £4 3s and rent for hall and proceeds of dances £24 is tid. The expenditure was made up of insurance £7 2s Bd, formation of mciely £6 ss, alterations and additions to hail £6 5s 2d, stationery, printing, etc., £6 18s, making a total ol £27 10s Kid. The liabilities were written down as 290 debentures at £1 each., less 6f. cancelled, £233. The asse.-s were made up of land, building, and plant to the value of £ll2O and cas’i in bank amounting to £156 16s 9d. The election of. officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows : President, Mr E. Keane ; vice-presidents, Messrs D. J. O’Carroll and W. Ganley ; committee, Messrs J. Porter, \V. Knox, and F. L. Wallis ; secretary, Mr E. Marshall; auditor, Mr C. W. Parfitt. The following charges for hall hire were adopted: Rent till midnight, 15s ; till after midnight, 30s ; political meetings, 10s 6d’, football meetings, 5s ; church services, day 2s 6d, evening 5s ; charge for hire of crockery, ss. A deposit of 10s must be made when the hall is booked, to be refunded upon the compliance of certain rules, Considerable discussion arose as to what should be done with a boat be ■longing to the society, ami it was decided that it be repaired and made fit for use, the arrangements being left in-the hands of the secretary. ft wqs announced that it was the society’s intention to have the electric light installed as soon as possible. ft was agreed to grant the Coast Football Club the use of the hall for football practices at the rate of 7s 6d per evening, with a deposit of £1 to cover any damage That may occur : the club to provide its own lights, which, must be other than kerosene lamas. KEREPEEHI. MISHAPS TO DREDGES. Mishaps befel two of the Lands Department dredges that have been working in the Await! stream cut on Tuesday night. A Pridstman dredge working at the Kerepeehi end grounded as the tide was falling and settled on an uneven keel. When the tide came in it filled the pontoon before there was .sufficient water tp float it. The American steam dipper dredge also filled with water the same night through a-slip on the bank permitting one of the spud arms to sink.
