ANZAC DAY OBSERVANCE.

(To the Editor!. Sir, -In Monday’s edition, above the nom de plume •‘lndignant,’’ appear a number of misstatements and an innuendo that the local Golf Club has encouraged work on its links on Anzac Day. This is utterly contrary to fact and principle. No wol-king bee was arranged by the club or its officials for that day. as stated by you)' co’Tcsnondent, nor was any organised work contemplated. A few membets visited the links and attended to someminor matters connected with the opening day ; but consequently to accuse members or the club of desecr.ition is obviously absurd. It is pleasing to note that your correspondent if ignorant is at least honest, in that hi refrains from signing -himself “Anzac” R. L. MILLER. Sir. —In' reply to " Indignant’s letter re Anzac Day observance I. as president of the Paeroa Golf Club, emphatically deny that there was any working bee on the golf course on Anzac Day.— I am., etc., T. GILBERT SMITH.
