BEAUTIFYING PAEROA.

(To the-Editor!. fir,- -T am extremely pleased to Jcarn that the Post Office Department is arranging for a grass plot to Joe made in front of our new post office and it appears to me an excellent opportunity for further beautifying Pae-ro-i. The question naturally arises, What will the Borough Council do with the plot and I would like to suggest that the Memorial Fountain on top of Primrose Hill be brought down and placed on this small post office reserve. In my opinion the fountain, which is quite an attraction, is simply lost in its present position. It is coo small to be seen from (low i on the flat, and as for its purpose as a fountain, it i.s like the district —dry. If it was placed on the spot I have suggested, then it would be seen by all our ci'izens and visitors, and would, I am quite sure, stand out far more prominently as a memorial than it dees at present. Probably there are many Paeroa residents who have not even seen the fountain close to. I would suggest that a small border of flowers be arranged round the base and whole of the ground cccupied oe encircled with a chain fence. With on.- excellent water supply the fountain could be kept playing curing tne greater part of the year, and I urn quite confident that the whole effect would be very pleasing to the eye, and would help to improve what will ne in the future the town’s “civic square.” The cost of removal and reelection should be quite smal, and J heartily commend the suggestion to rm’- Borough Council and Beautifying Sot iety. .

in place of the fountain on Primrose Hill, I would suggest the erection of a circular wooden seat, which would enable the citizens and others to enjoy a very fine and pleasant view of the surrounding country. I trust, sir, that others of your readers will support my suggestions, which I hope will enable our-civic fathers to go ahead with the schema I am, etc.— CITIZEN.
