LITTLE GIRL DROWNED.
ACCIDENT AT KARANGAHAKE, A VICTIM OF THE FLOOD. A sad drowning accident occurred at Karangahake on Monday afternoon lash when a girl named .Christina Poole, aged twelve years, daughter of Mrs E. Patton, lost her life. It appears that when returning home after attending the Karangahake school the deceased, with some schoolmates, was wading in the flood water on the roadside when suddenly she appeared to stumble, and. falling into the Ohinemuri River, was borne quickly away by the swift cirrent. So far the body has not been recovered, although the police, with the assistance of neighbours and friends, are making diligent search. It is hoped that the body will be recovered as soon as the water subsides. An inquest will be necessary.
