PLAINS FOOTBALL.

NGATEA CLUB. ANNUAL. MEETING. The annual meeting of the Ngatea Football Club was held on Monday evening, the patron, Mr J. Costello, in the absence of the president, Mr W. ‘J. Hayward, presiding over ;.n attendance of ten players and supporters. The statement of receipts and expenditure showed that there was a credit balance of £l5 2s 9d on the gymnasium fund, but no other credits. At the beginning of the .season there was a credit of £22 13s 7d. Players’ fe-’s. subscriptions, donations, etc., totalled £9 7s 6d, gate money £ll 19s 2d. a social and a benefit match for injured players brought in £l9 14s, and other dances £2 Ils 9d. The biggest- items of expenditure were the exnenses of players injured, £l9 14s, c.ar and launch hire, £l5 2s 9d, working expenses bn the field, £7- 2s 6d, hall hire, £5 17s, and refe’rees’ expenses, £5. The officers elected for the ensuing year were : Patron, Mr J. Darlington ; president, Mr W. G. Hayward ; vicepresidents, Messrs W. Clark, J. Costello, M. Gurbich, H. Rcgastic, W. Montgomery, J. Terrill, T. McClean, H. Dent, P. Bertelsen, G. Harper, G. Rebin,son, E.-Flavell, N. Crabbe, V. Williams, ,T. Robb, J. Higgins, J. N. Anderson, E. Walton, L. Rountree, T. Leonard, S. McQuarters, F. Kneebbne, C. Kneebone, J. Kneebone, T. Wheele.-, A. Wheeler, C. McTaggart; commit-, tear Messrs V. Williams, D Vincent. S. Phillips, W. Johnson, L. LipScbmbe T. Smith, E. Flavell; secretary and treasurer, Mr P. Bertelson ; selectors, Messrs T. McClean (seniors) and E. Flavell (juniors) ; delegates to Rugby Union. Messrs D. A. Vincent and V. Williams. The same colours as in previous years were decided on—all black. The appointment of a social committee was left to a later meeting. The question of the insurance of player.; was discussed at length, but no decision was arrived at. Subscription fees were fixed at 5s per player. Mr Vincent reported that Mr Hayward li ad offered his paddock for a playing field, and the-offer was accepted with thanks. A vote of thanks to .the past season’s officers was carried, as also was a vote of thanks to the ladies for pro--viding luncheon for visiting players. It was decided to have a practice match on Saturday next, and it was left in the hands of the secretary to arrange to have the grounds in order.

TURUA MEETING. The Turua' Football Club held a general meeting on Wednesday last, the president, Mr G. Porteous, presiding over tui attendance of 25. The following officers were appointed in place of those who declined the positions: Delegates to Hauraki Plains Rugby Union, Messrs G. Porteous an 1 ?! F. Truelove; selectors, Messrs G. Porteous and R. Gibbons ; secretary, Air F. Clotworthy. It was decided to ask Dr. Valentine, the Rev. Beaufort, and Mr D. G. McMillan to join the Referees’ Association.

Messrs G. Porteous and R. Gibbons donated medals for the most consistent senior and junior player, respectively, and received the thanks of the club.

The delegates to the Union were in - structed to endeavour to have all club matches played before the representative matches were commenced, and to endeavour to have the club, matches so arranged that the junior ami senior teams travelled together. It was reported that 30 members had been enrolled, and that there was every indication that the ground wruld be in a much better condition than in previous years owing to the' large amount of work done thereon since last season. It was decided to have a practice match on Saturday next, probably against Orongo. NOTES. . The Rugby Union will meet on Saturday next, when many important matters, including that of boundaries, wi’l conic up for discussion. Owing to the attitude of the Pipiroa players Mr F. Wallis has resigned the position of delegate for the Waitakaruru club. The Waitakaruru club anticipates having a very strong team this season. Circumstances permitting, a -tryout against Maramarua will take place on Saturday. It is expected that Patetonga will again put a team in the -field this season.
