THE Hauraki Plains Gazette. With which is incorporated THE OHINEMURI GAZETTE. Motto: Public Sendee. MONDAY. WEDNESDAY. & FRIDAY. WEDNESDAY, MARCH 26, 1924. THE DOMAIN LOAN.

To enable the Paeroa Borough Council to carry out certain improvements to the Domain that have al ready been authorised by the ratepayers money for the work is necessary. Rather than go to outside institutions for the small sum of money required the council is at the present time inviting applications from th’.' public for ten debentures of £lOO eadi, bearing interest at . the rate of 5% per cent, per annum, payable half-yearly. That other local bodies in the Auckland province are inviting applications for debentures on similar terms should assure the public that such an investment is a sound one. A unique opportunity is afforded the. residents of Paeroa to come forward with a tangible recognition of the council’s efforts to foster and promote all branches of sport and make our local domain a spot to be proud of, and one worthy of our town. It is worthy of connideratioti. that people who subscribe to the loan are not merely helping the council, but arc acquiring a personal interest in the beautifying and betterment of the town. Tncidently, the various sports bodies of Paeroa are going to be help-, ed and encouraged. That Paeroa-is prospering and growing cannot .be doubted, and to assure that it will continue to do so residents should avail themselves of every opportunity to improve the place and make adequate provision for facilities for our young folk. With encouragement and help forthcoming there will be a tendency to chock the drift of our people to the larger towns and induce outside people to come and reside here and share in the progress and attractive .surroundings. Increased playint? areas are urgently required, and it >s earnestly hoped that residents will be sufficiently loyal and broadminded to subscribe tp the debentures, and by so doing they will not only receive the gratitude of the council, but the satisfaction of having helped materially to improve their town. The security appears to be absolutely gilt-edged, and as the loan is spread over a long period of years the debentures should not fail to appeal to the public.
