PAEROA GOLF CLUB,

ANNUAL MEETING. The meeting of the Paeroa Golf Club on Thursday evening last mostly resembled a happy family. This institution, in common with the farming community and multitudinous other things, suffered on account of the extraordinarily wet season experienced last year. Nevertheless an atmosphere of optimism for the forthcoming season pervaded throughout, and the members cheerfully and unanimously increased the amouiu of their subscriptions from £2 7s to £3 for men and from £1 6s to £2 for ladies. The committee and members felt that they were sailing too close to the wind with their income in relation to expenditure, and the recommendations of succeeding committees during the past few years has at hist been given effect to. The annual report and balancesheet was read and adopted. The report showed a membership of 75, and lhe balance-sheet showed a loss of £ll Us 10s for the past year, principally accounted for by the loss in the East Auckland Championship Tournament held on the local links last June. The success of this event was marred by wet weather. The assets showed a total of £BB 18s 2d and liabilities £l6 10s, leaving a surplus of £72 8s 2d. The election of officers insulted as follows: President, Dr. T. G. Smith; vice-president, Mr H. G. Somervell; Captain. Mr S. J. Hedge -, secretary and trrasurer, Mr R. L. Miller; committee. Messrs A. R. Gori’ie, J. A. A’'thui. C. D. Topliss, A. Steedman, and P R. Hubbard ; ladies’ committee : Captain, Mrs R. L. Miller; secretary and treasurer, Mrs Edwin Edwards ; committee. Misses E.
