Considerable discussion arose at the Ohinemuri County meeting on Thuisday over a letter received from the Thames Valley Power Board submitting quotation,s for, the cost of electric, power for the purpose of driving a stone-crusher. Tlie engineer said that he had received the quotation too late to enable him to go fully into the matter in time for the meeting, but on the face of it the charges appeared to be very heavy, and he favoured the use of the council’s roller for the purpose of supplying power to -drivo the pi usher. The.matter was referred to the engineer.
The -whole of the business transact cd a', the monthly meeting of '•.he Farmers’ Veterinary Club held at Ngatea on Thursday last concerned finance. The secretary presented a return of overdue accounts due to the club totalling about £2OO. The return was discussed at length and in some cases the secretary was instructed to take legal proceedings to recover the money. Members of the executive promised to interivew <s many of the others as possible and endeavour to induce them to pay thei” accounts.

The 26th house built under ‘the Waipiikurair Borough Council’s housing scheme has been completed, ami is now occupied. With the completion of one more house to be erected, the progressive Central Hawke’s Bay Borough Council will have erected 27 houses at a cost slightly below £20,000.
The basket social held at Patetonga recently in aid of the piano fund was 'a great success —socially, but not financially. There was a large attendance, the surrounding distdicts being 'veil represented. Much •imusement was caused by the auctioneering of baskets, which was carried out by Mr J. Brown. Miss Blackin’rn’s basket brought in the top price of £2 10s, while Miss A. Burgess closely followed. A prize was given for the basket bringing in the most money. Mrs TJoyd’s orchestra rendered irresistible music, extras being played by Miss darken and G. Lindsay,
