HAMILTON STOCK SALE. ■
The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Co., Ltd., report:— At Hamilton on Tuesday we had a good yarding of all classes of stock, pigs especially being well represented. The inquiry for sheep was exceptionally strong, lambs advancing to a degree that is scarcely likely to be maintained. There was also good competition for breeding ewes, which showed a considerable advance on recent sales. Fat sheep also improved. Forward ewes made from 18s to 18s 9d, forward shorn lambs 19s Id to 20? 3d, forward woolly lambs 22s 6d, store woolly lambs 15s 6d to 17s .10d, s.m. breeding ewes 19s fid to 20s Id, slightly failing 15s 9d to 16s 3d, culls 7s to Ils. The cattle market was exceedingly bouyant, a general all round improvement being noticeable. Lightweight steers made from £6 Ils to £7 6s. best cows £5 to £8 Is, medium weights -£4 to £4 15s, forward cows £2 10s to £3 10s, store cows £1 10s to £2 ss. Gaod competition was accorded a line of forward grown steers from the const, these realising from £4 16s to £5 19s, 18-month steers 38,s to £2 Bs. A few heifers in calf, but backward, were not much sought after. Figs we’-e not quite so brisk as the previous week, nevertheless a good standard was maintained. Best baconers made to £4 10s, light weights £3 to £2 10s, porkers £2 5s to £2 15s, best slips 20s 6d to 28s, small 16s to 18s weaners 8s to 10s 6d.
