SCHOOL PICNIC.

• A DAY AT TE AROHA. AN ENJOYABLE OUTING. The annual picnic and gala day of tiie Paeroa District High School was held on Friday last. A new departure was made this year, in that the picnic was held at Te Aroha instead of Thames Coast, where it has been held for the past three years. The chief reason for this was the high cost pi transit down the coast. Leaving Paeroa soon after 8 a.m. some 400 children and over 100 parents snd friends journeyed to To Arolia, reaching there at nine o’clock. Ideal summer weather prevailed throughout the day. The morning was spent under the shade of the trees, paddling in the creek, roaming round the domain, or climbing the Bald Spur. The afternoon was devoted to a .sports nieeting and games. The Tc Arolia Borough Council was generous to a degree and made every endeavour to give the excursionists a good time. The day, although a long one for the little children, passed off happily, and fortunately without accident. The following are the results of the races :— Boys. 7 and 8: El Jaspers 1. G. Johnston 2.
