OBITUARY.

MR. WILLIAM GRANT. The many friends of Mr William Grant will be grieved to learpi of his death, which occurred at his residence, Bradley Street, Paeroa, late last evening. The late Mr Grant was born m Pokeno in 1862, and came Paeroa just over 32 years ago. On arrival in Paeroa deceased was engaged in the construction of the railway to Thames and Te Aroha, and was afterwards employed on the work <>f completing the Paeroa-Waihi line. On the completion of these works he took up an appointment with the Ohinemuri County Council as foreman of the Paeroa riding and tumcock. He severed his connection with the council early in 1917 to engage in Work for the Public Works' Department. De ; ceased, was a conscientious and industrious worker,, and was held in high esteem by his employers and many friends. The late Mr Grant took a keen interest in bo.wling, and was for many years a member of the Paeroa Bowling Club. For the past two and a half years deceased had been in illhealth but he bore his sufferings with courage and fortitude. Deceased «s survived by a widow and three daughters, Mesdames S. Hannah, Waitoa, J. Hill, Ngaruawahia, and another married daughter in Auckland. The interment will take place at the Paeroa Cemetery on Sunday afternoon.
