NGATEA SCHOOL.
MEETING OF COMMITTEE. The monthly meeting of the Ngatea District High School Committee was held on Monday last. The headmaster reported that th? school had re-dpened with a roll number oi 134, including 15 pupils of the secondary department. Twenty-five pupils had been enrolled. The headmaster asked the committee to consider some means of procuring a flagstaff and flag for the school a,s soon as was concenient. Regarding the secondary department it was pointed cut that it would be advisable to enrol more pupils, as with a roll number of 15 it would be difficult to maintain an average attendance of 12 for the year. 7n spire of the adverse circumstances last year three of the four pupils presented for examination obtained a senior free place. it was decided that full time be observed at the school during February. The Minister of Education advised that he would visit Ngatea to open the school on Wednesday, 13th Inst, at 2 p.m. Arrangements for the ceremony were made, and the headmaster was instructed to write to the headmasters of the surrounding schools inviting the residents of their districts to Ngatea for the occasion. It was decided to hold the school pi mic on the school grounds on th? same date. Accounts totalling £5 were passed for payment.
