Officials of the Kerepeehi Leadswingers’ Club have been summoned to appear at the next sitting of the Magistrate’s Court at Thames to answer charges of holding a smoke concert and of welling liquor without a license.

During the visit of the Minister for Lands last month the Under-Secre-tary for Lands, Mr J. B. Thompson, promised to visit the Hauraki Plains again early in the New Year and look into several matters brought before .the Minister. So far no word has been received as to when he will arrive.

Quick despatch for a line of about 400' fat lambs is reported. The lambs were drafted on a Wairarapa farm early on Tuesday, January 1, were then driven 10 miles to the railway .station trucked, and sent on to Wellington. They were slaughtered at Ngahauranga works on the Wednesday, frozen, and shipped on Friday morning, and at 3 p.m. that day the steamer sailed for London.

The refusal of the Napier watersillers to handle charged oxygen gas cylinders on the wharves continues to be a source of expense to Gisborne foundrymen (says the Poverty Bay Herald). The efforts made to reach an agreement with the men in respect to the cylinders have so far borne no fruit, and the containers are still being brought overland at at added expense. The Auckland boats, on the other hand, bring the cylinders from the North, and the watersiders apparently offer no objections to the loading at Auckland.

The Manawatu Trotting Club’s meeting is depicted in a series of interesting snapshots, and another event that has a generous showing is the Auckland athletic championship gathering at Carlaw Park.. Social,'theatrical, and motion pictures have a strong representationtion.
