HAMILTON STOCK SALE.

The Farmers’ Auctioneering Co. reports :—

At Hamilton on Wednesday we had a. large yarding of sheep and pigsCattle were, however, in short supply, in consequence,, beef improved consii’enaoly in value and was eagerly competed for. Light steers made to £8 2s, cows (best) from £5 to £6 17s 6d, medium weights £3 16s to £4 18s. forward cows £2 5s to £3 2s, stores £1 Ils to £2. Competition for sheep was not so brisk as the week preivous. There was a fair offering of fat sheep, ewes making from 19s 6d to 24s 9d, forward sorts 15s to 18s. Lambs were strongly in prominence, but bidders seemed reluctant- except in a few instances when good sales wore witnessed there was a general decline of about 2s per head. For such a large yarding the proportion of real rape lambs was noticeably small, and it was made apparent when suitable pens were under competition that the demand for this article is keen. Prices realised were . Rape lambs, shorn, 17s 4d to 18s 6d, good store lambs 14s to 16s 3d, medium -10 s 9d to 13s 3d, small 8s to Os 6d. Ewes were not sought after, and the various lines submitted proved difficult to quit. Pigs were yarded in full and values ruled much on the basis of last sale. Best baconers made from £3 5s to £4 3s, light baconers £2 15s to- £3 ss, porkers £2 2s 6d to £2 12s 6d, stores and slips 23s to 345, weanerg 9s 6d to 15s.
