PAEROA HOSPITAL.

PROCEEDINGS SETTLED. COMMITTEE TO TAKE ACTION. At .the meeting of the Thames Hospital Board held yesterday a letter was received from Messrs Miller ami Son enclosing a letter from their Auckland agent in which it 'was stated that Waihi’s application to participate in the fund was refused, and that the scheme was approved subject to the amendment made by Mr Tuck and the writer.

The enclosed letter also stated that the application was heard on December 18 by Mr Justice Stringer. Counsel for the Waihi borough suggested that the scheme should be approved subject to the Thames Hospital Boat d paying to Waihi the sum of £lOO out of the fund. The writer objected, and pointed out to the judge the stand taken by the Thames board. Mr Justice Stringer remarked that it would be a pity to wreck Ijhe whole scheme, and he would not do so. He therefore aprpoved of the scheme as finally amended by Messrs Miller and Sen, and certified for the costs of all parties, including the Waihi borough, to be settled by the registrar and paid out of the fund. Mr Danby said he (supposed that the erection of the hospital now became part of the policy of the board-

Mr Brenan said that certain formalities had still to be done to acquire the land. The Paeroa Borough •Council should be to move in the matter. Certain streets had to be. closed and land exchanged. He asked whether the board proposed to proceed with the erection of the institution.

The chairman stated that a resolution had been on the books for .several -years to the effect that when the fund was handed over the board would proceed with the erection of a «ix-bed maternity home, to be used ais a casualty ward. It was decided that the matter be handed to the Nurses Committee to take action.

Mr Brenan promised to ask the Fund oCmmittee to take action.
