CARE OF YOUNG FIGS. TO OBTAIN GOOD RESULTS. Weaning time is a very critical period in the life of the pig. if young pig has been given feed, in ail- .Jt, ditlon to what it has received from.■s: the mother it should have made good start, and should then be fed, at least twice daily, all that it will eat up clean. The young pigs should £ ha v e the run of good fresh pasture < ifi possible, and should be fed ou crushed grains, pollard, and skim-..3p milk, with lucerne, rape, or barley as green feeds, or pumpkins, mangolds, etc., if available. All slop food should be fed while sweet, and should preferably be given warm, after having ben steamed for about four hours. The steaming of such grains as are given is attended by better than merely soaking. The pigs have a shallow wallow (preferably of concrete), in which the water is kept ip as fresh as possible.
