RETICULATING NO. 1 ABEaT 7k ■ GOOD PROGRESS BEING MABE. 'i he sewerage reticulation of No. I •/js and part or No- 1 areas is being rapid- - ly carried out by the contractors, Messrs Lang and Hines. The prin- ;; cipal work at the present time is taking place between Puke Road andRye Lane, and in this locality the 18i’i pipes have nearly all been laid,- . at an average depth of 6ft. Just 2000 feet of these pipes have already.,;-_t been put down, the average fall work- :, ing out at about 1 iu 1000. Somey.?: forty men are employed on this erage contract, and when laying y 18hi pipes the progress is about 100ft.’-y? a day. The next step to be under- . taken will lie the putting in of the 12in pipes, which will have an aver- • s-j-. age fall of 1 in 500, and it is expected that progress will be at the rate of-,--., about 15OTt a day. The 12in are to be laid at an average depth from sft to 6ft. IS - The contractors state that at present time the “going” is particular'y good, and. there is ample material on hand to push the work?
