The prin- ;; cipal work at the present time is taking place between Puke Road andRye Lane, and in this locality the 18i’i pipes have nearly all been laid,- . at an average depth of 6ft. Just 2000 feet of these pipes have already.,;-_t been put down, the average fall work- :, ing out at about 1 iu 1000. The next step to be under- . taken will lie the putting in of the 12in pipes, which will have an aver- • s-j-. age fall of 1 in 500, and it is expected that progress will be at the rate of-,--., about 15OTt a day. The 12in are to be laid at an average depth from sft to 6ft. IS - The contractors state that at present time the “going” is particular'y good, and. there is ample material on hand to push the work?
