The secretary reported having con-Ji ferred with the Mayor (Mr with reference to convening a meeting in Paeroa of citizens for. the purpose of appointing executive officers and for other matters in connection witn the establishment of a branch of the League, and that the Mayor : had suggested that the matter should be postponed until after school reopened in'the New Year. « It was agreed to adopt the s.ugges- s tion. . _ SCIENCE ROOM. Following on representations made to the Board’s inspectors a letter was received from the supervisor of the manual and technical branch advis- } ing that the executive of the Board had decided to, recommend to the Department that a grant be made to ' cover the cost of lengthening the > present science room by 12 feet. The headmaster said he was very glad to hear of the recommendation, • as the extra space was badly needed., SANITARY ARRANGEMENTS. • A letter was received from the ■- Board advising that the Department , had authorised a grant of half cost for the erection of additional outbuildings, and improvement of the existing outbuildings, and that the board had agreed to pay the balance of the cost out of its own funds. The . , board’s architect had also been ask- - ed to arrange for the work to be un_ A dertaken as early as possible The chairman said it was gratifying to learn that such -necessary work was to be done, and instructed that « the board should be written to aaid thanked for its efforts in the matter. REGULATIONS. A copy of the Auckland Education Board’s new regulations, and also a circular dealing with subsidies, on voluntary contributions fpr school grounds improvements were received. ANNUAL PICNIC. After considerable discussion it wasdecided that . the date and location - for the annual school picnic should-, be left in the hands of the headmas? ter and secretary to arrange and report on at the January meeting. . - ACCOUNTS." Accounts amounting to £lO 17s 4d were passed fpr payment. GREETINGS. The chairman moved, on behalf of the committee, a vote of appreciation ; to the headmaster and his staff for the successes gained and gpbd done during the year, and wished them seasonable greetings able holidays. - Seconded by Mr Pascoe and carried with acclamation. Ou replying ,the headmaster thanked the committee for its good wishes, and also for the valuable help given,' and expressed the hope that the same harmonious relations would prevail throughout the, coming New Year. It was decided that a letter of congratulation and thanks be sent to Mr S. J. Bishop for. his splendid efforts in 'connection with the successes gained by the pupils of Standard VI. at the recent proficiency examination.
