Tne election of the-Dairy Control Board is now in full swing. Voting papers must reach Wellington by noon, December 13, so dairy farmers in the Auckland district should vote immediately. The following are the official candidates approved by the Dairy Council* representing all the interested dairy factories ‘of New Zealand: K. Dalrymple, Bulls, Rangitikoi; H. D. Forsyth, Eltham, Taranaki ; W. Goodfellow, Hamilton ; W. Grounds, Hokianga ; W. A: loins, Martinborough, Wairarapa ; W. C. Motion, Wniuku, Auckland. Dairy farmers are urged to vote immediately* At the Paeroa Police Court on Wednesday Edward Dye, aged 18 years, was charged with failing to attend parades, but the information was withdrawn as he was living over four miles from Paeroa. A conference between delegates of the Hauraki Plains and Piako county councils is being held in committee at Paeroa to-day, and matters in connection with the adjustment of Tahuna Riding will be discussed with a representative of the Audit Department. The results of the annual proficiency examinations were made known at the Paeroa District High School yesterday afternoon, and it is gratifying to state that out of 40 candidates who presented -themselves for examination 39 gained their certificates and one pupil obtained a competency certificate. Hearty congratulations are extended to Mr SJ. Bishop, master of Standard VI., on his capable tuition. It is to be hoped that parents will seriously consider the importance of sending their children who have been successful on to the high school this year and help to keep the attendance in the secondary department up to its presenstrength. If the number of pupils can be increased to 61 next year the Education Board will be asked to arrange for an. additional teacher in the secondary department, and the school will be graded higher. A a the Warden’s Court on Wednesday the application of Walter Wintle for a special quartz claim of 100 acres on the Talisman United at Karangahake was recommended to the Minister, a,s also was that of Wiliam Williams, for a special quartz claim of 60 acres, Great Fingal S.Q.C., also at Karangahake.
