Tne election of the Dairy Control Board is now in full swing. Voting papers must reach Wellington '»y noon,'December 13, so dairy farmers in the Auckland district should vote immediately. The following are the official candidates approved by the Dairy Council representing all the interested dairy factories of New Zealand : K. Dalrymple, Bulls, Rangitikei; H. D. Forsyth, Eltham, Taranaki; W. Goodfellow, Hamilton; W. Grounds, Hokianga; W. A’. lorns, Martinborough, Wairarapa-; W. C. Motion, Wniuku, Auckland. Dairy farmers am urged to vote immediately* The University of New Zealand matriculation examinations were co.’nmenced in Paeroa yesterday, and will be continued until December 13. There are’ 12 candidates sitting for this examination, 11 of whom are from Paeroa. This, is the first occasion on which university examinations have been held in Paeroa. The rainfall on the plains for the month of November as gauged at the Lands office, Kerepeehi, totalled 1.81 inches, as compared with an average of 3.26 inches for the same month in the last twelve years. Rain fell on ■six days, the heaviest being on the 17th, when .46in was recorded. The town clerk gives notice that owing to the dry weather the use of all hose taps is to be discontinued, and that if leaky taps and troughs are not immediately attended to the water will be cut off without warning. With the festive season near at hand Mr F. C. Blyth, of ”Ye Olde English Bopke Store,” has gone extensively into the matter , of procuring suitable Christmas and New Year presents for young and old, and has been successful in landing a large and varied selection of goods at almost pre-war prices. Mr Blyth has an interesting advertisement to this effect in the advertising columns of this journal,*
