THE Hauraki Plains Gazette With which is incorporated THE OHINEMURI GAZETTE. Motto: Public Service. MONDAY, WEDNESDAY, & FRIDAY. FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 30, 1923. LOCAL AND GENERAL.

—« It is pleasing to record that in spite of the various mischievous acts that have been committed in Paeroa lately sneak-thieving is not very prevalent. On locking up his drapery establishment the other evening Mr J. P. Gamble overlooked taking in a bun lie of belts that were hung outside the shop. When he arrived at the shop the following morning he was agreeably surprised to find the belts still hanging intact cutside. The arrangements for providing luncheon for the judges and show officials were different this year, in the past the members’ wives and friends have provided the meals gratuitously, but a new departure was made this year, the whole arrangements being left in the hands of a firm of caterers, who were alive to the business and gave satisfaction. The nine side-shows and seven trade exhibits attracted considerable attention at the show yesterday. Two of the side-shpws were of .a hign standard, and deserved the suppprt that was accorded them. The Christmas Number of “The Ladies’ Mirror ” is to hand. This bright issue contains a wide variety of interesting matter and illustrations, reflecting the best and brightest features of happy, homely life in New Zealand. In a word, “The Ladies' Mirror” maintains its popularity and unique place among the illustrated magazines of the Southern Hemisphere.
