WAIKATO MARKET REPORT: The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Co., Ltd.,, report: Beef.—The beef market still continues to decline. Values for. ox are, roughly,. 25s to 27s per 100, cow beef 18s to 20s. Mutton.—The market for mutton has not shown much alteration. The tendency is, however, downward, and no doubt a return to freezing level., will soon be apparent. Store Cattle.— Everywhere competition for store cattle is dull, and. certainly the time seems opportune for those who desire to stock grazing country. Steers are far from plentiful, but there is something approaching a glut of empty heifers, with the result that only those of outstanding quality meet w r ith demand. Store Sheep—Fair inquiry still exists in regard to store sheep, but the absence of definite indications, fi om the freezing companies has served to spread a feeling of caution. Quotations current in Southerp. centres are B%d per lb for lambs, for wethers, and 4d for ewes. Dairy Catltle. —Fair inquiry still prevails, animals at' profit meeting with good competition in all markets. Pigs Values have further declined since last reporting, but there is evidence of a tendency to steady,. The yar-lings are not quite so heavy, which has resulted in firmer competition.
Horses. —The demand for heavy draughts still continues strong, some exceptionally good prices being realised.
