NETHERTON. ROSE DANCE. One of the most successful dances ever held in Netherton was the annual rose dance, organised by the tennis club and held in th e hall on Friday evening. The decoration of the hall received much favourable comment, and rightly deserved it, for a prettier scene would be hard to imagine. There were roses everywhere —entwined in foliage on the walls, in bowls on the window-sills and on the stage, and suspended by cords from the ceiling. There was a very big crowd present, including dancers from Thames, Paeroa. Turua, and Ngatea, and dancing was carried on till the early hours of the morping. The music was supplied by Mrs Potter, and Mr D. Anderson was M.C. .A' euchre tournament was also held, the prizes being won by Mrs Coldicutt and Mr Anderson Tne success of the dance augurs well for the success of the club’s ball early next month. KOPUARAHI. CRICKET. The hope that several cricket clubs would have been formed on the Plains not having materialised, the Koruarahi Cricket Club has endeavoured to arrange friendly matches with other centres, and so far has been successful. On Saturday last a first eleven journeyed to Waikino, while a second eleven met a scratch team from Waitakaruru at Kopuarahi, and although rain so interfered with the game that it was only possible to have one innings, the match was a very enjoyable one. The home team batted first and knocked up 45 runs, but Waitakaruru topped this by 7. The following scores were registered :— KOPUARAHI.
