The monthly meeting of the Plains County Council commenced at 10.30 a.m. on Tuesday morning. The finance meeting was concluded at 12.30 p.m. and an adjournment was made till 1.30. Two deputations were received during the afternoon, and two gentlemen were interviewed. At 8 p.m. the engineer’s report was read and discussed for an hour, when correspondence was taken. The need for increased accommodation for rolling stock at the Paeroa railway station was clearly demonstrated yesterday. Tn the station yard was a large number of covered trucks and carriages which comprised a portion of the special race train from Hamilton on Monday evening. In addition to the Waihi train there were many trucks in the yard yesterday morning, occupying all available loop lines as a consequence, and to make room to allow the FranktonThames brain to enter the station the Thames-Auckland express had to pull a considerable distance along past the station buildings, with the result that the Williams Street crossing was blocked to all traffic for about 25 minutes, causing considerable inconvenience to pedestrians and drivers of vehicles.
