PERSONAL.

Mr E. N. Miller, deputy-mayor, of Thames, has been appointed to the vacancy on the Thames Hospital Board caused by the death of Mr W. Baker. Mr R. Johns, who has been a clerk in the Paeroa railway station for the past two years, has received notice of transfer to Taupiri. During his sojourn in Paeroa Mr Johns has made many friends. He took an active interest in Oddfellowship matters, particularly in connection with the Jubilee Lodge. Mr Johns left Paeroa by the express yesterday morning, and a number of friends assembled at the station to wish him au revoir and good luck in his new sphere. Mr J. S. McKay, from the head office, Wellington, has succeeded Mr Johns in Paeroa.
