POWER BOARD.
MONTHLY REPORTS. At the meeting of the Thames Valley Electric Power Board held at Te Aroha on Tuesday last, the following reports were presented MANAGER’S REPORT. “ The chairman (Mr F. H. Claxton) left for Australia on September 7 and is expected back before the next Board meeting in November*. Mr Flatt has been acting since Mr Claxton’s departure. “ The sum of £3OOO has been paid to the Cambridge Power Board during the month, being an instalment cf the amount agreed upon for the exchange of territory adjacent to Cambridge. The Board’s solicitor is preparing the necessary transfer, etc. “We received the first instalment of £lO,OOO from the AIM.P. Society, which now leaves £65,000 to be lifted. “ The prosecution for the person interfering with the Board’s switcn board will be heard at the Courthouse, Te Aroha, on October 5. It is now possible under the Municipal Corporations Act to charge any person defrauding the Board in this manner with theft. “ Or. the 9th ult., at 7.18 p.m., during a heavy' gale, a tree fell across the high tension at Turua, and also the Low tension at Wharepoa was wrecked for 15 chains through trees. In company with Mr Flatt and Mr Willy, Turua was visited during the week. I have now a return from all depots giving the trees that are endangering the lines, and I would suggest that seven days’ notice be given all the property owners concerned to remove the danger. I would like to point out that practically the only stoppages that have occurred have been caused through trees. "The position regarding transformers is very unsatisfactory owing to bad deliveries . One contract is now three months’ overdue, and it is impossible to make many more connections until further supplies are received. A shipment is expected in Auckland on October Bth. “The total number of consumers connected to the mains to September 30 is 2,<264, which includes 638 milking motors. Seventy-two milking motors and lighting and heating consumers were connected during the month of September.’’ ENGINEERS’ REPORT. “The poling of the township is practically completed, and wiring will commence shortly. " Orchard-Kopuarahi Road. — The poles for this 11,000 volt section have now been carted and laid out in position and crossarming has started. “ Horahia Road.—The poles for the low tension line on this road have been carted and laid out in position. “ Kerepeehi—The street lights have been installed and brought into service. “ Ngataipua.—This line has been completed and livened up fi'om Shelly Beach transformer. “ The gangs, on the Hauraki Plains section have been chiefly engaged in running service lines and extending the necessary lo.w tension wiring for these lines.”
