KAIHERE. CHILDREN’S CONCERT. A children’s concert, which was a delight to many, took place in the Kai here Hall on Friday last. Many and varied were the pretty character costumes worn, while the singing, which was above the average, showed careful tuition with due regard to both rhythm and expression. The programme commenced with "Nursery Rhymes,” by the chorus, and then part song, "See Our aors,” ; a junion dialogue; characte r chorus, “Japanese Maids” ; “Ten lit.tle Nigger Boys” ; a song, “The Lost. Dell”; ‘a recitation by Master J. Foote; chorus, “All among the Barley”; “Part song, “Oberon”; junior action play, “Sleeping”; part song, “Three Travellers” ; action song "Lit,tle Dutchies”; duet, “Don’t you Remember the Time,” by Misses J. and . B. Wallace ; part song, “Fair Shines the Moon” ; dialogue, "Boy Wanted” ; senior chorus, “Bedtime Song-” Mrs Whitwell played the accompaniments with efficiency and sym* pathy. The music for the dance afterwards was played by Mrs W. S'Lloyd. “ A vote of thanks was tendered by Mr Davies, on behalf of the parents, to the schoolmaster, Mr Whitwell, and Mrs Whitwell, and to Miss Walcroft and all others that had helped. Three cheers were then given, and the evening closed with “ God Save the King. Fifty-seven cows, 33 steers and heifers, 134 sheep, 3 lambs, .1 calf, and 11 pigs were slaughtered at the local abattoirs last month. The fees collected totalled £53 12s Id. A wide range of illustrations is included in this week’s issue of the “N.Z. Sporting and Dramatic Review. The centre pages comprise an exceptionally attractive series, and a , fine two-colour supplement depicting Miss Phyllis Monkman, a well-known London actress, is published with this issue. Racing is represented by snapshots of the Avondale meeting, the M.anawatu Hunt Steeplechase fixture, and the Hawk’s victory over Beauford at Randwick. The New Zealand Golf 'Championship meetings in Wanganui and Nelson are also featured. Keen interest will be taken in the photographs in connection with the faithhealing mission at St. Matthew’? Church, Auckland.
