Dairy g C0.,/Ltd;) 7 and A. fv H. -Rogers g (chairman Hauraki Plains Dairy Co., . I Ltd.)/ . ... .... ; . . . R Mr’Hale stated that the Opposition . to the Bill had made a statement to /the effect that one object of the Bill wis to wipe out the small co-operaitave companies, In order to refute this, he had pleasure-in calling upon Mr' . Rogers, who was the chairman of a t :■ small co-operative company, to express his views to the meeting, Mr Rogers expressed his pleasure . in being present at the meeting, and gave an interesting address in support of tie Bill. He strongly advocated. the dairy farmers, to vote in • favour of it, as he was confident it ( i would* <:.mean saying thousands of . 1 pounds? for the producers, He was ' j quite sire the?;BiU would assist an ! dairy companies, whether: small, or i large. It would ; enable them to ar- ‘ range for shipping on a more satisfactory basis and greatly assist H the inarketing of the produce througn beink.able to handle the whole of the dairy produce exports. • Mrj Hate pointed out that the N-Z-Co-operative Dairy Co., Ltd., had ' *. proved the advantage of being able to control their own produce througn ’ havihg a London manager, and instanced the case where the company had large stocks on hand at the en of itsj financial year, when the market was [weak, but by holding on to the stocks the company had been able to sell it prices far ahead of the prices ruling at the time of the annual balance.' Mr Hale: contended that the rates; charged for freights were too excessive, and by. being able to control all the. produce exported a reduction would probably be obtained.
