J WAIKATO MABKET BEPOBT. The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Co., Ltd.,, report: Beef. —Supplies of beef are sufficient to meet requirements, in spite of which values have remained steady <wlth improving tendency. Mutton.—Without any apparent reason the mutton market has suffered a sharp decline, and business has i.een difficult at anything approaching vendors’ values. Store Cattle.—The advance in store cattle still continues, and in all markets good competition can be relied upon. The improvement in values has as usual been .instrumental in locating a number of lines and drawing them towards the yards. Most Jots carry indications of the severity of the winter; indeed, it is only on rare occasions that cattle sufficiently forward to meet the requirements of Jowlland graziers are presented. Empty cows are still popular, and empty heifers -arje slo,wly improving their position. Store Sheep.—Conditions have not altered much since last reporting. There -is an unsatisfied inquiry for good hoggets, although present values seem rather high to justify risks being taken. Attention is also turning to ewes with lambs at foot, and good 'business in this branch is assured. Dairy Cattle. —These continue to improve, although most districts still are bare of pasture. Good heifers at all centres are well competed for. Pigs.—Contrary to our anticipations fat pigs have advanced in a marked degree, reaching higher values than have been experienced for a considerable time. Horses.—The Cambridge Spring Fair which has just concluded evidenced the fact that the demand for “good draught animals is as keen, as at any previous time. Aged horses were dull of sale,, but competition for young animals never flagged.
