THE Hauraki Plains Gazette With which is incorporated THE OHINEMURI GAZETTE. Motto: Public Service. MONDAY, WEDNESDAY, & FRIDAY. FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 28, 1923. NETHERTON ROADS.
At the instance of the Netherton Ratepayers’ Association a meeting of settlers was held in the Netherton Hall last Saturday night (when members of the Hauraki Plains County Council and its officials were present) for the purpose of discussing the county engineer’s estimates for permanent roads in the Netherton Riding. The Association is to be congratulated for effectively grappling with the outstanding need of its territory—good and permanent roads. The benefits resulting from good roads are so self-evident that there should be no need to recapitulate them here. Our purpose now is ro show our appreciation and to express our approval of the decision of the Netherton Ratepayers’ Association to ask the Hauraki Plains County Council to put before the ratepayers of Netherton Riding at the earliest opportunity a proposal for a comprehensive scheme fpr .laying down permanent roads in the riding. We hope that the ratepayers in that area will endorse the lead given to them and to the council in this important and progressive undertaking, and that the latter body will hasten the preliminaries.
