Topical subjects figure interestingly in this week’s issue of the “N.Z. Sporting and Dramatic Review,” special features being made of the Avondale Jockey Club’s meeting and the Wanganui Jockey Club’s meeting, snapshots of the principal races in both gatherings giving a faithful indication of the progress of events. Particular mention must be made of the prominence given to the Auckland v. Hawke’s Bay Rugby match at Napier for the Ranfurly Shield, two pages being devoted to photographs depicting many of the thrilling incidents of the memorable game. League football' and hockey enthusiasts wIH find, themselves well catered for, and ve r y fine groups are given of men and girls at the gymnasium classes of the Y.M.C.A. to Wellington. Attractive pages are devoted to dancing pupils in Hastings and Auckland and prize winners at the Wellington competition.
