GOLDFIELDS V. HAMILTON. A match that always creates considerable interest each season was played on the Hamilton links last Saturday between a team chosen from the Thames, Paeroa, Waihi, and Te Aroha Golf Clubs—popularly known as a Goldfields team—and Hamilton Golf Club, resulting in a win for the latter by 11 games to 7. The following are the scores, the names of the Hamilton playeife being mentioned first: — Bell beat Hunger (Te Aroha), 2 and 1; Horton beat Maingay (Te Aroha), 3 and 1; Ellis beat Budd (Paeroa), 4 and 3 ; Simpson beat Cullen (Waihi), 4 and 2; A. G, Robinson beat Marshall (Thames), 3 and 2; A. H. Robinson beat James (Te Aroha), 6 and 4; Gerrand beat Gurneil (Thames), 3 and 1; Eggleston and Wilson (Waihi), a’U squaro ; Guy lost to Morgan (Waihi), 3 and 2; Gibbons lost to Morpeth (Waihi), 3 and 2; S,warbrick lost to Jackson (Waihi), 5 and 3; Worley lost to Dales (Paeroa), 1 down ; Wilkes beat Somervell (Paeroo), 2 and 1; Coombs and Bliss (Te Aroha), all square; Tompkins beat Miller (Thames), 4 1 and 2; Rawson lost to Lindsay (Thames), 3 and 2 ; Strange beat Hazard (Waihi), 1 up ; Eiby lost to Dewhurst (Te Aroha), 3 and 1„ A bogey handicap competition over* 18 hales will be played on the- local links next Saturday for a trophy donated by the club captain, Mr S. JHedge. Players will arrange own partners. LADIES. The four ball best ball bogey handicap, played on Saturday last, was won by Miss M. Thorp and Miss E. Walmsley. The best cards returned were : Miss M. Thorp and Miss E. Walmsley, 4 up ; Mrs Miller and Miss Poland, all square ; Mrs Silcock and Mrs Peacock, all square; Mrs Edwards and Mrs Budd, all square ; Mrs Porrifct and Miss L, Buchanan, 2 down. On Monday the ladies spent a pleasant afternoon on the links. A medal round over 18 holes was played, the trophies being won by Mrs Edwards (first) and Mrs Silcock (second). An enjoyable afternoon tea and music on the gramaphone we r e provided by Mrs Peacock and we”e very much appreciated by the players.
□n Saturday next the third, round (eclectic) for the captain’s trophy will be played, players to arrange own partners.
