CYCLING ON FOOTPATHS.

(To the Editor.} Sir, —Could you tell me since when the Paeroa Borough Council has gazetted the Station Road footpath as a recreation ground for cyclists ? Quite recently I noticed seven of these “m anarchs of the wheel” speed down the path in question during the brief period of fifteen minutes. Residents valuing their personal safety and that of thein children take the wise precaution of walking down the centre of the road. On one occasion two of these pests narrowly missed riding down a little girl, and when the mother requested them to be a trifle mure careful one calmly informed her that they had quite as much right to the path as she had. Nat bad, is it ? If the Council has granted this footpath as a training track for these insolent joyriders, then let the said Council see to the erection of signposts warning pedestrians to keep to the road. CIVIS.
