FOOTBALL

RUGBY UNION MEETING. The Paeroa Rugby Union held ts weekly meeting on Tuesday evening, Mi J. Walmsley occupying the chair. It was decided to hold a smoke concert at an early date, and the arrangements were left in the hands of Mr, E. Moore, to report at the' next meeting. Opportunity will be taken at the concert to present the cups and medals won during the season. Receipts from the sale of tickets for Charity Saturday have all been received, and the sum of £ll 13s has been ' forwarded to the Benevolent Fund in Paeroa. TO MORROW’S GAMES. To-morrow will see the final of football in Paeroa for the 1923 seaspn, Netherton and West meeting to decide the wijnners of the senior cup competition. Both teams will be up to full strength, and with the experience gained through’ an extensive representative programme a good exhibition of football should be witnessed. It is very certain that the game will be West backs versus Netherton forwards, as it is in these departments that each team will place its hopes of victory. The general opinion is that Netherton’s chances are good, although West have the advantage in the backs. Mr Dunstan, of Waihi, has been engaged to referee, and the winning team will have to fight hard for its victory. At 1.30 p.m. a cuit,ain-raiser will be played between. East and West juniors, and on No. 2 ground the third grade representatives will meet Waikino, so that followers of ths game should ■be treated to a good afternoon’s Rugby for the final Saturday. lhe following players have been seleeted to represent East juniors :— 11. Thorp, F- Thorp, L. Smith, W. Smith, G. Lawrence, J. Walls, STukukino, M. Pennell, H. Mitchell, F. Fitch, C. Treanor, A. McKenna, D. Haskill, K. Slyfield, W. Southby, J. Neil, V. Vuglan. Players are requested to make a special effort to be on the ground at 1 p.m. for the purpose of having their photographs taken.
