FOR SUMMER NIGHTS. USE “GOLDEN RAYS.” Of the many excellent reasons why Golden Ray Candles should be used, the fact that they do not droop is perhaps the most important. Even in •tjie sultriest summer weather “Golden Rays” stand up to the heat. For camping parties they are ideal—inexpensive and of the best quality. If your grocer doesn’t stock Golden Ray Candles apply Auckland merchants, who will see that you are supplied.
At a meeting of the Netherton Hall Committee on Saturday evening It was decided ,to rescind the resolution charging hall hire for the social in aid of the Walhi Hospital funds. The Committee is negotiating to have pictures screened weekly in d:e hall. The road from Ngatea to Kaihere, which was impassable during the winter, has now dried up considerably, and the Lands Department is having it, disced. Should the fine weather hodd the road should be passable for traffic within a few days. It is the intention of the Department to make a road behind the present stopbank on the Puhonga canal, and a st,rip of land a chain wide has been taken from the settlers for that purpose. Telephone postg have been shifted back and trees removed, and five gangs of men are digging a 12ft wide drain. The spoil, together with that now forming the stop-bank, will be used to form the road. This will be done with a Bucyrus dredge. The batter on the western side of the canal will also be improved.
