THE PAEROA OFFICE, A well attended and representative meeting of the Paeroa Central and District Committee was held in the Board room on Monday, August 13. Oving to the unavoidable absence )f the convenor of the committee (Mr W. F. Johnstone) Mr Geo. Buchanan, local director, was elected to the chair. Mr W. H. Blakeway,, the branch secretary, explained that the object of holding these meetings was to establish a closer link between the sunpliers and the company. The meeting would welcome any suggestion or complaint, that the members wished to bring forward, as they could be assured that the management wished to have the fullest confidence of the suppliers The meeting also enabled suppliers, through their representa- , tives, to become conversant with the various matters of interest that came up at the Board meetings each month and ito keep in touch with the gracing of their cream, etc.,, at the local factory. The chairman reported on the com- * pany’s action in regard to guarantors of the N.Z. Bacon Co., and after fully explaining the position a resolution was unanimously' carried supporting the directors’ suggestion that the suppliers endeavour to assist the guarantor, representing the Dairy Company’s interest. The chairman further reported that a circular would be sent out later to suppliers, explain- . ing ,the position, and in the event of thO necessary legislation being passed a vote would be taken from the whole of the suppliers. Mr Garry, factory manager, in the course of his remarks on the manufaoturing side of the business, mentioned that it would be his last meeting owing to his being transferred to Ngaruawahia factory. The chairman congraulated Mr Garry on his promotion, and extended to him the very best wishes of the committee and' suppliers for his future welfare and prosperity. Mr Tattersall, district, organiser, gave some very interesting informa- _ tion on matters pertaining to the dairy industry, which he had gathered during his course of instruction at the Ruakura Farm. Mr Garry congratulated the Board of Directors on t,heir action in arranging for the ■ course, which he considered would be of great benefit to the employees who were present and help them to realise the farmers’ point of view of the dairying industry. A good deal of discussion took place on the question of forming a brancn of the Dairy Company Herd Testing Association. Eventually it was decided t.p ask members of the committee to ascertain the number of suppliers testing association for the Paeroa disv;ho would be willing to join a herdtrict. Suggestions on various matters were brought up by members, which - will be taken to the head office by the local director.
