HAMILTON STOCK SALE.
The Farmers’ Auctioneering Co. reports ;— At Hamilton sale on Tuesday last there was an average yarding of mut,ton and beef with very few store cattle. The entry of fats was not sufficient for requirements, all butchers being short of supplies, outside buyers operating freely. Mutton showed ani appreciable rise in values and beef improved £1 10s tp £2 per head. For all prime ox beef the price was quite 30s per 100, killable but unfinished steers, and particularly cow beef, also participating in the rise. Fat wethers sold at £2 ss, prime fat ewes. £2 to £2 6s. A small pen of extra prime hoggets, £2; store wethers, 25s 6d; under-sized hoggets, 18s ; fat sters,s sold at £ll 10s, £l2 10s, £l2 17s 6d ; lighter weights, £8 to £9 3s ; Jersey steers, £5 16s to £6 15s . heavy fat cows, £3 5s to £5 2s ; unfinished and stores, £1 2s co £2 7s 6d . small 3V 2 year steers, £4' 2s. The dairy cattle left much t,o be desired by way of quality. With one or two exceptions good quality heifers close to profit made £6 to £8; anything poor or weedy was not u anted, and in many cases would have sold better in the store pens. A larger yarding of fat pigs that at recent fixtures met with keen competition. Slips, weaners, and stores continue to improve in value, the demand being very keen.
