PERSONAL.
Mr Frank House, principal of the firm of House and > Daking, Ltd., drapers, Hamilton, has been on a business visit to Paeroa. Mr F. M. Strange, who took a foremost part in the formation of the Thames Valley Electric Power Board, wa,s presented at Mangiatl on Wednesday evening with a handsomely framed photograph of members of tho Board. The presentation was made by Mr Claxton (chairman of the Board), who spoke of Mr Strange’s excellent services. Mr Percy AVilliams, of Hamilton, who has been the provincial representative of the Manchester firm of Messrs J. H. and F. Roberts for the past twelve years, has severed his connectio’n with the firm to enter into business at Paeroa in the general drapery line. During his residence in the Waikiito Mr Williams has been a prominent figure in bowling and general sporting circles. His endeavours during the war period were especially prominent in connection with the raising of patriotic funds. The funeral of the late Phillip Bain took place on Wednesday afternoon, and was largely attended. His Worship the Mayor (Mr W. Marshall) and prs. F. E. Flatt, E. Edwards, and J. W. Silcock acted as pall (bearers. Representatives .of the Paeroa Borough Council, Ohinemuri County Council, Chamber of Commerce, Business Men’s Association, District High School Committee, as well as a large number of relations and friends joined in the sad procession. There was a large number of beautiful wreaths, including one from the deceased’s class mates at school, and also from the pupils of the District High School, local bodies,, and friends. The se’-vice at the graveside was conducted by the Rev. Father Dunphy.
