OBITUARY.
MR JOHN POLAND. Mr John Poland, who died in Auckland on Friday at the age of 85 years, was a very old colonist, and. a- wellknown resident of Tuakau. He arrived in New Zealand from Ireland in 1863 by the ship Ganges, and shortly afterwards settled at. Tuakau, where he resided until a few years ago, when he went to Auckland to live. Mr Poland had a lai ge. family of 14 children, of whom, those now living are: Mr M. Poland* of Ellerslie ; Mr J. J. Poland, Onewherp; Mr H. Poland, M.P., Paeroa: Mr W. Poland/ Pukekawa; Mr T. Poland, Maungauroto ; Mrs V. Lindberg, Pukekawa, and Mrs J. J. Kearney, Mamawaru.
