KOPU FERRY.

CONCESSIONS GRANTED. CONDITIONS OF WORKING. At the last meeting of the Thames County Council the committee, comprising Crs. H. Lowe (chairman), R. Cox f and J. McCormick, which had been set up at a previous meeting to consider the advisability of granting concession to users of the Kopu ferry, reported as follows :— “Your committee, being of opinion that the granting of concessions will have the effect of increasing the traffic, and considerably improving the financial result, begs to recommend as follows: The present charges to remain in operation with the exception of the following:— “As regards cattle, sheep, pigs, and horses: Any of the above the property of one owner or in charge of one drover may be carried at a charge of 25s per punt-load. The constitution of a punt-load shall be determined by the officer in charge of the ferry, who shall also decide the timesuch special trips shall be made, so that it does not interfere with the ordinary ferry service. “As regards vehicular traffic and passengers : That, cards containing 12 single trips or six return trips be issued, available for use during a period of 28 days from the day of issue; the .price for such 12-trip ca.’ds to be fixed on the basis of a reduction of 25 per cent, on the schedule charges for return trips; each card issued to be for the special class of traffic only, and to be nontransferable. Concession cards to be available only on the advertised trips of the ferry, and to be sold at the county office only, or posted to any address on receipt of the cost of the card plus postage.”. , The report was adopted on the motion of Or. Lowe, seconded Cr. Cribb.
