DISTRICT NEWS.
NGATEA. PUHUNGA BRIDGE. Material has arrived for a new bridge across the Puhunga canal and the work of erection will commence immediately. The bridge will be 99 feet long, and will span the Canal close to the present bridge. It will be about six feet higher than the present bridge and about 20' feet above low water level. PERSONAL. Mr D. W. Dunlop, advisory inspector to the Auckland Education Board, was in Ngatea on Wednesday. KEREPEEHI. DREDGE PONTOON LAUNCHED. An attempt was made on Wednesday morning to launch the big pontoon which has been constructed a,t Kerepeehi for the Lands Drainage Department, but owing to a slight mishap it may be a little time before the machinery can be installed. POLICE STATION. A residence is in course of construction at Kerepeehi for Constable Devereaux.
