DAIRY FARMERS’ UNION.

KEREPEEHI BRANCH, The monthly meeting of the Kerepeehi branch of the Dairy Farmers' Union was held at the president’s residence on Monday evening. Mr J. H. Nicholson presided over a small attendance.

The Chief Postmaster, Thames, wrote as follows in regard to postal facilities at Kerepeehi:—The Letterbox is cleared daily at 8’ a.m„ noon, and 4.30 pm. The mail which leaves by the Kerepeehi to Paeroa mail bus . clpses at 8.15 am. daily. The business done at Kerereebi does not at present warrant 1 the erection of a departmental building. In the matter of transmitting and receiving telegrams I am advised that privacy is assured. Application should •oe made to the District, Telegraph Engineer, Telegraph Department, Auckland, respecting the establishment of a telephone exchange, particulars regarding the number of potential subscribers being furnished. It is desired that twenty or more applications be received before the department would undertake to provide accommodation for private letter-boxes. Ainv mail received during the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m, would be sorted into the boxes. The letter was received.

Mr J. H, Nicholson reported on the recent conference in Hamilton. The Union had grown from 100 to 4000. Administrative expenses had been very high, but would be reduced in the future, as the area had been divided into smaller districts. The Dairy Produce Control Bill was explained by Mr W. Goodfellow. Herdtesting was discussed at length and the Union’s scheme explained. Matters in connection with organisation were also discussed and an executive of fifteen elected. The Hauraki Plains were entitled to two members, and Mr J. H. Nicholson had been elected, together with one ether who has yet to be nominated. The bacon industry and the fertiliser industry were also discussed, and matters in connection with them were left in the hands of the executive.
