HOSPITAL SITE.
MEETING OF COMMITTEE. A meeting of the Kerepeehi Hospital Site Committee was held in the hall on Wednesday evening. Mr JM. Thompson presided over a fair attendance. The secretary reported that the recent ball was the means of raising ■.he sum of £l'4 2s 6d, despite the very wet night. It was decided to present Mr G. Brrribropk with a case of pipes as a token of appreciation of his services in drawing posters as advertising for the ball. Mr H. Kerby, Thames, wrote stating that owing to the wet weather so few passengers were, offering at Shortland that he considered it would be advisable not lo run the launch to the ball. Members expressed the opinion that this was unfortunate, as people from down the river wished to'travel bv the launch. Practically the whole of th? money was subscribed /locally, and great credit was due to Mrs Innes, who had collected almost £6O. A vote of thanks to Mr J. J. Jenkin for the able manner in which he had carried but the work of secretary and treasurer to the fund Was carried by acclamation. A vote of thanks to Mr A. Innes for granting the free use of the hall was carried by acclamation. The Hospital Site fund now stood at £135, leaving only nine or ten pounds more to be raised. The opinion was expressed, that this would be forthcoming. The chairman said that the money would be forwarded to the Hospital Board, who would apply for the subsidy and purchase the. section,
