THAMES VALLEY BUG BY UNION. MEETING OF COMMITTEE. -A meeting of the Thames Valley Rligby Union was held at Paeroa on Monday night, the president, Mr JW. Silcock, presiding over the following delegates : Messrs J. M. Shand, T. p. Vuglar, and R. B. Penlin*gton (Paeroa) ; J. Calligan,, W. McConnell, and J J Browne (Waihi); G. Torteous, GBerney, and DJ. Vincent (Hauraki Plains). Apologies were received . from Mr S. Walmsley, Waihi, and the Te Aroha delegates, the latter not being able to attend on account pf . the bad state of the roads. The application from Waihi to play Thames, on July 14< was granlted, as also was an application from the same sub-union to play an Auckland “B” team on July 28. Mr 3. Galligan was appointed manager of the Thames Valley team to play Waikato at Hamilton on Saturday next. If satisfactory arrangements can be made the Waikato return match will be played at Waihi. September 8 was agreed to as tha date for the Auckland v. Thames Valley match at Paeroa. Mr J. Barrett was apppinted ip represent the Union on the selection committee of the combined unions of Bay of Plenty, Waikato, and Thames Valley to select a team to meet New South Wales at Hamilton on September 12. The New Zealand Rugby Union forwarded a grant of £2O towards school football, and ifc was decided to allot £5 each to the Waihi, Paeroa, Piako, and Hauraki Plains sub-unions. •The committee decided to protest against the action, of the Bay of Plenty Union in again altering their fixture with Wanganui, from August 15' to August 11, the Thames Valley Union having previously agreed, to change their fixture with Wanganui . from August 15 to August 11 to suit the Bay of Plenty Union. INTER UNION MATCHES. ' The second round of the inter-,unon fivtures was arranged as follows : — a. August 4. —'Paeroa v.- Piako, at Paeroa; Waihi v. Plains, at Waihi. -August 18.—Waihi v. Paeroa, af Paeroa ; Piako v. at Te Aroha. ' September I.—Paeora v. Plains, at Ngatea; Waihi v. Piako, at Waihi. it was decided that the Waihi juniors play Piako at Te Aroha as a curtain-raiser to the Thames Valley v, Wanganui match, the winners of this match to play Paeroa juniors at Paeroa as a curtain-raiser to the Auckland v. The Plains union is leading in the competition for the Frank Poland Memorial Cup with six points. Costello* G. Porteous, & McConnell, D. Vincent, and J. Banks (secretary). The following referees were appointed :, Kerepeehi v. Waitakaruni seniors, at Kerepeehi, Mr B. Phelan; juniors Mr E. McConnell. Turua v. Patetonga seniors, at Turua, Mr G..T. Davidson ; juniors Mr J. Reid. The secretary was instructed to. write to Mr F. Stretton, Waitakaruru, and ask his reason for resigning from the association. A vote of thanks to Mr J. Reid for refereeing the representative match was proposed by Mr Davidson, seconded by Mr Costello, and carried by acclamation. It was decided that i£ be a recommendation to the Hauraki Plains Rugby Union that the Ngatea ground be improved by depositing some earth in the depressions,
