THAMES VALLEY BOARD. MONTHLY STATEMENTS. At the meeting o£ the Thames Valley Electric Power Board, held at, Te Aroha yesterday, the following leports were presented ; — MANAGER’S REPORT. “ Debentures. —Debentures for the Bank N.Z. amounting to £25,000 have been handed over> and the moneys have been paid to the Board’s account at Te Aroha. The A.M.P. Society’s debentures of £75,000 commence on the Ist October of £lO,OOO per montn for seven months and one month o £5,000. “ Transport.—Owing to the continued wet weather the roads are In a very ’bad state and the transport is being made very difficult. The trucks and cars are being taxed to their utmost, and arrangements are now being made for settlers to assist in the carting in order to obtain power for the milking season. The settlers on the Ngarua Road have already assist ed in this matter to a very great extent. , “ The Louis Theriault left PorStephens on Tuesday last with poles for Kopu, and should arrive at a very early date. “ Three applications for power from large consumers have been received duiiiig the month, totalling over 100 horse power. “In the correspondence you will notice that the Public Works Department has Increased the Board’s allocation of power from 900 k.v.a. to 1500 k.v.a., an increase of 600 k.v.a. ‘’Owing to the bad state of the roads in the Morrinsville district the completion of the Kereone line has been delayed until the contractoi has sufficient poles carted .to allow the gang to make a start on the Motumaoho line. Old Te Aroha Road line should be completed within a fortnight, including all services. The Mangatepara line was made on Monday, 2nd inst. This will connect up a further 20 milking motors. “ The canvass of the Putaruru district is being expedited and the position has been explained to. the president of the Development Boards to his satisfaction. “The total consumers to date are as follows: Milking motors, 435 ; other motors (not including Dairy Co) 91 ;»other consumers (which does not include Thames Borough or Te Aroha Borough), 1984 The connected load is 8329 horse powef?’ ENGINEERS’ REPORT. Waikino-Paeroa. —A 50-K.v.a. transformer station is now in course of construction on the main line opposite Joughin’s quarry and a low tension line is being erected across the river for the purpose of supplying this quarry with power. Thames Section. —Poles are being distributed for the Kauaeranga 11,009 volt line, and erection will start early next month.

The new metering equipment at the Thames substation has. been installed and is working satisfactorily. The following transformers have been installed and livened up during the period: Kopu 1/10 and 1/15 k.v.a., Wesleyan Gully 1/5 k.v.a.

Owing tp the growth of load it has been necessary to increase the transformer capacity at Rangiora Road from 5 k.v.a. to 15 k.v.a., and at Hikutaia from 7% to 25 k.v.a. Hauraki plains Section.—The principal work carried out has been in connection with the installation of transformers and livening up the lines already erected. The following. 11000/415-volt transformers have been connected and livened up during the period: Wilson’s Road 1/5 k.v.a,, Awaiti Road 1/25 k.v.a., Awaiti Road West 1/15 k.v.a.,. Fisher’s Road 1/I's k.v.a., Kopuarahi School Corner 1/15 k.v.a., Shelly Beach 1/25 k.v.a., OrchardKopuarahi roads corner .1/7% k.v.a. Turua-Orongo 11,000-volt line. — High and low tension wiring was completed during the month. The low tension wiring of Ngataipua Road on the east branch has been completed and the- west •branch has been poled. j i’he Turua township wiring for ten street lights wa,s completed, and the brackets and fittings are now being erected. The high tension telephone from Paeroa to Ngatea should be completed within the next few days. Old Te Aroha Road, Mangaiti.— Work on. this section has been resumed. The bulk of the main line wiring is completed, and about half a mile of pole line remains to be done, and also the services to be connected, when this section will be ready for a supply. Public Works Department.— a 1 complete set of plains, numbering six sheets in all, have been forwarded to the Department giving full details of the control arrangemeiUts adopted on the Board’s 11,000-volt lines. A copy of these plans is being posted up in the Government sub-stations supplying power to thfe Board, and will enable the attendants to see at a glance the arrangements of switching installed by the Board and the number and capacity af transformers on each circuit.

Transformens. —A large batch of transformers arrived during the latter part of May. These were dried out and tested in the Board’s main depot at Te Aroha, and the majority are now in operation.

General. —The continued bad weather has considerably hampered the Board’s operations, rendering transport by motor lorry impossible in some cases.
