Local players are requested to be on the station in time for the midday train for Te Aroha. PLAINS RUGBY UNION. COMMITTEE MEETING. The monthly meeting of the above committee was held last evening, the president, Mr J. Costello, presidinjgj over the following: G. Portepus, H.. Wallis, W. Thompson, J. Nicholson, D. A. Vincent ,hon. secretary). The action taken in postponing the Turua v. Patetonga senior match on Saturday last was confirmed. A postponement committee, consisting of Messrs G. Pprteous, H. Berne/, and D. A. Vincent, was formed. It was decided to carry o<n with ths club fixtures on July 14, and not to accept the Thames- Rugby Union’": offer to send to Ngatea a “B” team. It was decided to call off the unfinished match, Waitakaruru v. Ngatea. and replay it at a future date. Mr J. Reed was elected to refereethe Waihi v. Plains match. PLAINS REFEREES’ ASSOCIATION. MEETING AT NGATEA. A meeting of the Hauraki Plains Referees’ Association was held' at Nagtea last evening, Mr G. T. Davidson presiding over a good attendance. The reports from the various referees were discussed and received. Interpretations of the rules wevjjj debated and interesting points were brought forward. The decision of the referee in the Waitakaruru v. Ngatea match was discussed, and the action of the referee in stopping the match at half time owing to the state of the ground was approved.. The manager said that the signatures had only just been received, and he had not yet had an opportunity of gping into the matter. He would attend to it at once, and advise Mr Willy. TURUA SCHOOL. Mr Willy said that the Turua, School Committee had experienced some difficulty with regard to the heating arrangements at the school. The secretary had written to the Board’s depot at Paeroa, but had received no reply. The chairman said that no doubt the delay had occurred through writing to the depot manager at. Paeroa instead of direct to Te Aroha. The secretary said he would look> into the matter at once. PLAINS TELEPHONE. Mr Willy asked what was the position as regards the high tension telephone between Turua. and Ngatea. Mr McLeod, engineer, said that there were two cables to be laid yet, and as .soon as this was done the telephone connection would be effected, probably within a month. Turua and Ngatea would then be connected with Paeroa and Te Aroha direct. RIDING REPRESENTATION. The Central Power Board, Hamilton asked that the Thames Valley Beard urge on the Government through the members of Parliament for the districts that members of power boards should be elected to represent ridings, or combined ridings, when necessary. Mr Flatt moved that the letter be received, and that a reply be - stating that the Board was not la favour of any alteration of the present system of representation. Seconded by Mr Willy and carried. The chairman said he did not think that there would be any alteration in the Power Boards Act during the present sitting of Parliament. ACCOUNTS. Accounts totalling £15,476 17s 5d were passed for payment.
