DISTRICT NEWS.

WAIKINO. SOCIAL AND DANCE. Ou Friday last a social and dance was held in the Victoria Hall to raise funds for the Catholic Church. The function proved a great success, over 120 peing present, including visitors from Waihi, Paeroa* and other parts of the district. The duties of Ms.C. were carried out by Messrs J, Jesney and T. Keohan who fulfilled their duties to the satisfaction of all. The musicians for the occasion were Mr Claude Cater, and Mr Samson. During the evening a spot dance took place, the winners being Mrs Archer and Mr B. Lewis. The euchre tournament, which was held during the evening, was won by Mrs H. Murray and Mr Corrigan. The sunper room was beautifully decorated for the occasion, and a dainty supper was served and enjoyed by all. The arrangements for the social were in the capable hands of the secretary, Mr T» Keohan. KOFUABAHI. DAIRY FARMERS’ UNION. A meeting of the Kopuaj-ahi brancii of the Dairy Farmers’ Union was held in the schoolroom on Friday evening, Mr R. J. Bowen presiding over a small attendance. The head office wrote forwarding a copy of the agenda for a conference to be held at Hamilton on June 26, and inviting delegates to be present. Messrs T. Field,, R. J. Bowen, H. Green, and C. H. Lawrence were appointed to represent the branch al the conference. It was decided pn the motion of l Mr E; C. Harwood, seconded by Mr S. H. Hudson, that the branch support all the remits. The head office wrote forwarding a copy of a letter to the Minister ef Agriculture suggesting certain alterations and additions to the Dairy Produce Export Control Bill.—‘The was received. PIPIBOA HAILSTORM A hailstorm pf exceptional severity passed over Pipiroa on Thursday afternoon. The hailstones were up to half an inch in diameter, and windows were broken. The path of the storm was very narrow and sharply defined.

SCHOOL CONCERT. The children of the school are being trained for a school concert to be held in aid pf the school funds. SUPPLIERS’ ANNUAL MEETING. On Friday afternoon the annual meeting of.suppliers to the N. Z. Dairy Company was held,, when Mr E. Keane ' presided over, a good attendance. Tn'answer to a question Mr W./E. Hale said that to give shareholders at this end of the area better representation on Hie board it had been decided to divide the into three wards. The whole of Hauraki Plains with the exception of Netherton s now one ward. Netherton is included in the Paeroa ward. The committee elected were: Messrs E. Keane, F. Wallis and W. Ganley. The meeting closed; with a vote of thanks to the company’s officials fo” being present, and also to Mr Harvey. WAITAKARURU. SUPPLIERS’ ANNUAL MEETING. The annal meeting of suppliers to the N.Z.. Dairy Company wap held on Friday when Mr C. W. Harris presided over a good attendance. Many questions similar to those asked at other places were asked and answered. The committeemen elected were-: Mangatarata, Messrs F. J. Sexton, 'A. Wyllie, and L. McKenzie; Waitaka;runi and Canal Road, Messrs C. W. Parfitt, C. W. Harris, H. L. Berney, W. Stretton, R. T. Williams, and S. E. Levers; Maramarua, Messrs SSymes, G. Robinson, and L. Me WattThe meeting closed with votes of confidence in the company . and thanks to the officials for attending. ngatea. HALL COMMITTEE. At a meeting of the Ngatea Hall Society trustees on Monday evening it was decided to revise the scale of charges at the next meeting. The secretary was instructed to obtain a few yards of metal for the pathway. The tender of Mr H. A. Hamilton for the righfrto screen pictures at 25s per night was accepted. STOCK SALE. The Farmers’ Auctioneering Co. he’d their monthly sale at Ngatea pn Monday. There was only a small yarding, but the usual attendance of' buyers. The bidding was brisk, and practically all that was effered was sold.
