A rather good story was told by the Rev. Clyde Carr at Christchurch recently (states a Christchurch exchange) in the course of his sermon at the Linwood Congregational Church. An old Steotg minister was being farewelled. They had been trying to starve him out for a long time. He was given a handsome present, and many more handsome things were said. On rising to reply he remarked that he had no idea he had been so much appreciated, and on mature thoughts had decided to remain .with them a little longer.
