DAIRY FARMERS’ UNION.
NGATEA BRANCH. 5 A meeting of the Ngatea branch of the Dairy Farmers’ -Union was held last evening. Mr. W. McDuff presided over a small attendance, The head office wrote forwarding a resolution passed by the Brookfield (Waitoa) branch stating, that in comparison with the Te Awamutu Power . Board’s charges those of the Thames Valley appeared and recommending that the Union make a Combined appeal to the Thames Valley Power Board to. justify its charges. The Te Awamutu rate was 12s 6d in the £lOOO sterling unimproved value, And worked out at about £2O per annum for 15,0001 b of butter-fat. Mr McDuff said that the charges in the Thames Valley were about..double those, in the Te Awamutu area on the production ba§is. It was more expen- , sive to 'run a milking plant by electricity than by-either benzine or kerosene. He moved that the branch support the other branches in their request. Seconded by Mi; J. Spence and-car-ried. J TAR-SEALING OF ROADS. Mr McDuff brought up this matter, , and said .that as the roads were now in a good condition it would pay to - have them'tar-sealed. He suggested • that the. Union move in the matter. Mr C. W. Schultz moved, and Mr McDuff seconded, that it be a recommendation from the branch to the Horahia members that a meeting be convened to ascertain the feeling of the settlers in regard to the tar-seal-ing of the roads in the Hor.ahia riding.—Carried.
